In California, the days of ocean-polluting, wildlife-killing plastic bags are over.
Gov. Jerry Brown on Tuesday signed into law a bill that makes the Golden State the first in the nation to enact a statewide ban on single-use plastic bags. (Citywide bans are already in effect in San Francisco; Los Angeles; Washington, D.C.; Portland, Ore.; and other municipalities.)

The wildly popular ALS Ice Bucket Challenge hasn’t just revolutionized fundraising campaigns, it’s practically reinvented them. As of Thursday, the ALS Foundation has about 41.8 million reasons to thank the slightly masochistic challenge. But California isn’t feeling the love. In fact, the ALS Ice Bucket challenge may be contributing to California’s drought, and some residents are less than pleased.

Of course, the challenge’s cause is a worthy one, and regardless of its faults, the Ice Bucket Challenge has helped the ALS Foundation raise 20 times more this yearthan it did last year. But it comes at a cost — our most precious natural resource, and one that some areas of the country (and many parts of the world) are in desperate need of.

Contributing to a great cause, but I believe the right thing to do with California’s circumstances is to just donate and skip the ice bucket challenge part all together.

Try your best to conserve water! Don’t let the water run while brushing your teeth, don’t over water your lawn, install faucet accessories that minimize water usage, etc!

To start off FYC’s new California’s Filming Locations series, I’m beginning with one of my favorite movies and one of my favorite buildings, the Bradbury Building from the last scene in (500) Days Of Summer, where Tom meets Autumn. Truly a masterpiece of a building, I’ve been there myself, it’s gorgeous.

Visit it yourself at

CNBC’s list of the top ten most diverse cities in the United States. Proud to say four out of ten of them are ours :) Number 1 is Los Angeles, Number 5 is San Diego, Number 3 is Oakland, and Number 9 is San Francisco. Love all the culture we have to offer!

Hi guys! Found this interesting article on the Business Insider about what Americans thought were the craziest, hottest, smartest, etc. states! I chose a few of my favorites above but there are a lot more, check it out at http://www.businessinsider.com/poll-how-americans-feel-about-the-states-2013-8 . Wasn’t surprised seeing the results, with New York and California being equally praised and shat on at the same time, and with everyone hating on poor Texas haha.

Gotta love the Golden State!
